Like a bad marriage

The relationship between President GW Bush and our country as a whole is beginning to resemble a bad marriage. Many in the American electorate are hoping for a divorce, but it cannot happen. In this kind of marriage, we are stuck under Bush's executive rule until January 2009.
What are the factors creating a bad marriage here? The first that I would highlight is a lack of willingness to admit fault. Yes, GW Bush has made mistakes, plenty of them. His cronies have too - Alberto Gonzales, Condi Rice, Cheney, to name a few. Yet, do the words "I am sorry" ever come out of their mouths? Never, or at least never sincerely enough.
The modus operandi of the Bush circle is to never admit wrongdoing, stubbornly persist ahead, until things get too out of hand, then resign.
How about compromise, another ingredient of a good marriage? It doesn't seem to exist in Bushworld. Bushworld members display an obstinant adherence to a fixed set of actions and beliefs. Any advise or opinion that is not in lockstep with Bushworld views are vociferously denounced and even labeled as tratorous or terrorist inspiring.
Yet, like victims of domestic abuse, our political electorate seems to take these beatings by Bushworld members without standing up for what is right. Yes, we cannot have a divorce from this bad marriage, but we can at least stop the abuses, and attempt to contain the mishaps and disasters that Bushworld members are imposing on us. Our government has mechanisms in place to create such oversight and limits of power. It is time to urge our Congress to continue applying pressure and offer a better solution to our problems than the bad marriage the executive leadership has brought upon us.
